Captain Brent Hancock of the Obsession

Captain Brent Hancock

One of the most knowledgeable and consistant Charter Captains on the east coast of Florida, Captain Brent has proven himself over the last three decades as an awesome producer of quality fish around Port Canaveral Florida just minutes east of Orlando.

Starting before he could drive at an early age, Brent would ask his Aunt to launch his small boat out of Port Canaveral where he would putt alone out to sea only to be picked up in the evening with fish for the grill and a tired smile on his face. Brent's enthusiasm for fishing started young growing up in on Florida's west coast fishing where at a young age he honed his angling skills and traveled on the weekends to visit his uncle and friends on the east coast fishing Canaveral as often as he could.

Eventually Brent moved to the east coast of Florida settling near Cocoa Beach adjacent to Port Canaveral. Running his twenty five foot Sea Vee named the Sea Dreamer for several years before being asked on to run the Obsession for Sunrise Marina during the early 1990's... and the rest is history.

Little Tunny, AKA Bonita Tuna Are Great Fighers!

Little Tunny are the most common tuna in the Atlantic. Found in warm temperate and tropical waters of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Occurring in large schools, and weighing up to 35 pounds, it is the smallest member of the tuna Scombridae family.

Commonly called "false albacore" or "albie". It resembles the Atlantic bonito, skipjack tuna and species of mackerel. It is best identified by the dark spots appearing between its pectoral and ventral fins and "worm-like" markings on its back.[1]

Originally thought of as a trash fish because its food value is so poor it is considered inedible, it is now sought after as a sport fish due to its line stripping 40 mph runs when hooked. Commercially, the fish is used as bait for sharks and marlin.
